Lisa began her career in critical care nursing over 25 years ago. Inspired by the care and kindness of nurses at the Rochester MAYO clinic while with her father in 1994, Lisa discovered her true calling and enrolled in nursing school. Having already earned a BS from Western Michigan University, Lisa selected Wake Tech’s Nursing Program in Raleigh. She completed her BS in Nursing from UNC Charlotte while working as a Step-Down Unit RN at WakeMed. Early in her career Lisa discovered the joy of helping other nurses succeed as an instructor helping nursing school grads prepare for the NCLEX, which lead to her becoming a Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2008 after earning her MSN at Duke University. In addition to her MSN, RN-BC, and APRN nursing degrees, Lisa holds multiple specialty critical care certifications.
Lisa is active member and leader of multiple organizations including the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN), the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM), National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS), North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA), Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), and Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO).
